Back in 2005, when Maria and Carlos first arrived in Canada from Guadalajara, they brought with them nothing but a suitcase of clothes and a head full of family recipes. Having grown up in the rich culinary tradition of central Mexico, they were disappointed to find that authentic Mexican flavors were hard to come by in their new home.

What started as weekend pop-ups serving homemade tacos and burritos to friends quickly grew into a local sensation. By 2008, the first Barburrito location opened its doors in Toronto, with a simple mission: bring real, fresh Mexican food to Canadians without compromising on authenticity or quality.

Today, with over 45 locations across Canada, Barburrito continues to serve the same family recipes that Maria and Carlos brought with them, using locally-sourced ingredients and traditional cooking methods that honor their Mexican heritage.
